The Miracle on Ice is one of the Olympic Games' most unforgettable moments, it took place during the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid New York. The underdog U.S. men's ice hockey team, mainly amateurs, stunned the world by defeating the four-time gold medal-winning Soviet Union, considered the best team in the world, in the semifinals. The U.S. team went on to win the gold medal by defeating Finland in the final.
